Comments from Sticky Notes
Trail Suggestion – From Fossil Park through town (utilize Main Street) to the east, past school to 7-mile corner. Similar to the path between Mason City & Clear Lake. Multi-purpose (walk, run, bike). Deb Nash
A major priority would be to make sure the trail system includes a route to the school. That will score much higher on grant applications. Whatever route, have a destination! (ex. School, Fossil Park, depot, etc.) Deb Nash
Fitness trail (in town) – At least ½ mile between stations with each station having a task (i.e. walking/balance beam, chin-up bar, sit-up bench, hand-over-hand bars). This is an example from Fort Collins, CO. Deb Nash
Talk to Iowa Northern RR about creating a trail / maintenance road along the railroad from Marble Rock to Nora Springs.
Immediate improvements that could be done to accomodate walkers: fix sidewalks, enforce dogs on leash or in pens, street lights (in working order), benches scattered through town. Deb Nash
Find history on brewery and paper plants for interesting facts. Also settling beds – maybe Kenny Trettin has information, or retired veteran…possibly Leann Ward’s relative who lives in OH or IL. Jim Schumburg
Need all-weather trail with clear surface all year. Renada Eggena
Fix current sidewalks on Main St. as opposed to making a trail on Main St. Dog ordinances need to be enforced for liability issues where trail passes. Kathy Smith
Proposed trail looks good. Lots of property owners to come to agreement.
Will they be paved or gravel or grass?
How much will it cost?
It would be nice to have a trail to the old Scout Camp in Marble Rock.
I would like to see the present walk path to connect along the river to the camp grounds & eventually to Rudd Park & maybe Marble Rock camp. Kathy Tumilson
Some paths might need to be lighted.

GROW Rockford Together meeting, February 28, 7:00 p.m. at the Rockford Community Center.
Those present were Carol Burnett, Dennis Ginther, Larry & Sharon Hicok, Angie Johnson, Janette Lien, Aaron Pearson, and Dave Peterson.
The oral report of the previous meeting with Brian Leaders was discussed. The report was approved with a motion by Janette Lien and second by Carol
Burnett.
Aaron Pearson reported a balance of $7,680.23 in the GROW checking account. The Rockford Lions Club did pay the bill for the concrete pads for the pocket park. He has $325. to deposit for the hanging baskets on Main St. The treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Carol Burnett and second by David Peterson.
We have sold enough baskets for 1 on each large pole on Main St. downtown area. Janette will order 10 from “Pork and Plants” in Altera, MN. Discussion
was held on the large pots to sit on Main St. We would like to have them in place by Mother’s Day. Glennis Kelley from Nora Springs has contacted Angie
asking to be able to bid on plants for the baskets and pots. It was decided to order plants for the pots from her, and ask that they match or blend with the
hanging baskets.
A community meeting will be held on March 19 starting at 6 p.m. with Brian Leaders explaining the planning and process to get started on the trails in
Rockford. Those attending will be asked to plan their “dream trail,” and what order the phases of construction should be. A list of names were divided up by Carol & Sharon to call just before the meeting. Angie and Carol will provide refreshments and Angie will write a press release.
Aaron reported that Lions Club paid the concrete bill, and there will be another disc golf tournament in August. The Pocket Park is ready for benches
and table to be set. The city paid for the labor. There are 3 planters to be filled like the Main St. pots. Janette suggested the use of wood chips to cover
the ground instead of grass.
Our next meeting will be held April 11, 7 p.m.,
